Evergreen High School Fields & Access Road
Progress Update: June 2026
Crews from FieldTurf began rolling out synthetic turf for the new Evergreen High School fastpitch softball field this week. Next, they will sew the lengths of fabric together before adding infill cushioning material.

Synthetic turf installation is complete for the baseball field.

Crews are also building spectator seating, a batting cage and pitcher warm-up areas.

Trees and landscaping shrubs are being planted in the parking lot islands and the sloped areas around the ballfields. They are also hydroseeding grass areas.

Portions of sidewalk along the access road are complete, and the first layer of asphalt has been poured. A final asphalt layer and painted stripes will be added this summer.

Directional signs for the access road linking the main parking lot with the west student parking lot were installed this week.
We anticipate the new baseball and fastpitch fields will be ready for use when fall sports begin in September 2026.

Why were the ballfields and access road not completed when the new school opened?
The new Evergreen High School facility opened in September 2025. During construction, students were able to keep attending school in the original buildings while the new school was built on the site of the former ballfields.
This approach allowed Highline Public Schools to open two new high schools, Evergreen and Tyee, on time and on budget in September 2025. If the new Evergreen building had been built in the same location as the original school buildings, one of the two high school projects would have had to wait at least two more years for a turn to use the Olympic Interim Site during construction. That would have added costs for extra moves, transportation and construction escalation.
