A Letter from Principal Downey - May 19

A Letter from Principal Downey - May 19

Dear Evergreen Students and Families,

This past week we wrapped up our We Care Weeks on Instagram @ehswolverines. From a fitness class led by our PE teachers, to information on nutrition and a bread recipe from our culinary teacher, to the kick off of our senior celebrations, we are finding ways to connect as an Evergreen community even while we are physically apart.

Seniors and senior families, this is not the senior year we anticipated or wanted for any of you. It is incredibly important that you feel as special and are celebrated at least as much as we would any other year. Late last week, our superintendent, Dr. Susan Enfield, shared our district’s plans for graduation ceremonies. We also have school-based celebrations as well. Details are below.

Cap & Gown Pick up

Cap and gowns, as well as graduation announcements, will be available to pick up on the following date and time. Students will also receive a Class of 2020 sign and window decal to display and use during the graduation drive-through in June.

Location: EHS Bus Zone

Address: 830 SW 116th St., Seattle 98146

Date: Thursday, May 21

Time: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

EHS Virtual Senior Signing Day

Seniors will hear inspirational speeches from local dignitaries and celebrities. Come celebrate what you and your peers are doing after high school: attending 2 year colleges, technical programs, apprenticeships, 4 year colleges, and/or joining the workforce!

Location: Zoom

Date: Friday, May 29th

Time: 1:00-2:00 p.m.

EHS Virtual Senior Assembly

Seniors will hear speeches from students and staff, see the senior slideshow, and experience acknowledgements of scholarships and senior awards and cords, similar to our annual Senior and Moving Up Assembly.

Location: Zoom (Link will be on the website)

Date: Friday, June 12th

Time: 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Seniors and families will be scheduled to rotate through a drive-through graduation ceremony.  Wearing their cap and gown, each student will receive their diploma cover, get a professional photo taken, and be cheered on by teachers and staff with appropriate social distancing. Students will also receive senior awards, yearbook, graduation programs and Class of 2020 memorabilia.  Students will be scheduled for a specific time. Please stay tuned for more information.
