Dear Evergreen Students and Families,
I hope this message finds you all healthy and enjoying the summer sunshine. Likely you recently heard from our superintendent, Dr. Enfield, that schools will be in a full distance learning 2.0 model this fall due to COVID-19. This announcement comes with mixed emotions for us all as we desperately wish we could be together in person as a community, yet we want to ensure safety for all.
At Evergreen, regardless of the format of school, our focus this coming year and beyond is that we are an emotionally-connected, anti-racist school that prepares our students for college and career. Now that we have more of an understanding of distance learning, we are excited to launch a new approach to distance learning this fall that will include more student voice and interaction, live sessions with teachers, relevant and rigorous curriculum, and more intentional engagement from staff to create a sense of belonging with students and families. We are hard at work this summer to ensure that you all have a relevant and meaningful educational experience come September. Please be on the lookout for an additional message in mid-August with more details. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me with any thoughts or questions.
Warmly,
Jacqueline Downey
