Dear Incoming Freshman (current 8th graders)

Dear Incoming Freshman (current 8th graders)

Dear 8th Grade Families,

We are thrilled to welcome you and your student to Evergreen High School for the 21-22 school year! At Evergreen we are proud to have our activities and courses reflect our students and community, and consistently have the highest graduation rate of comprehensive high schools in the district. We have a variety of upcoming events to get to know you and your student.

Your student will complete initial registration in their advisory class for their courses for next year during the last 2 weeks of February.  All 9th grade students at Evergreen take literature and composition 1 (English language arts), contemporary global issues (social studies), and biology. Students’ math class will be determined based on their current course enrollment and all students will take a world language course. We offer Spanish, French, Heritage Somali, and Heritage Vietnamese. Students continuing in the dual language program will take Dual Language Spanish Language Arts 9. If you are not currently in the Dual Language program, but would like to join the program in high school, please select Dual Language Spanish Language Arts 9 during course registration.

Lastly, students may select one of the following electives: personal fitness/health, yoga fitness, team sports, weight training 1, choir, band, guitar 1, dance technique 1, graphic arts,  visual art 1, ceramics 1, modern plays, leadership, marketing 1, Microsoft IT/computer science discoveries, introduction to engineering or geometry. These schedule options set students up to meet graduation requirements early in their high school career, as well as begin a four year program in music, art, business, technology, or engineering, should they choose to do so. You can review the descriptions of course options at http://bit.ly/coursecatalog2025.  If you have any further questions, please contact Rachel Kerr, class of 2025 school counselor, at rachel.kerr@highlineschools.org or call/text at 425-954-7650.

We also have several upcoming events to mark on your calendars:

·         EHS Takeover - March 31st - 12:30-1:30pm - http://bit.ly/EHSTakeover

·         Virtual Coffee with the EHS Principal- April 21- 7:00-8:00pm-  bit.ly/8thgradeEHScoffee
